Tháng 7 vừa qua mình có một chuyến đi đến Châu Âu để chụp ảnh phóng sự cưới cùng những người bạn - những wedding photographer quốc tế đầy tài năng và dễ mến. Đó thật sự là một chuyến đi đáng nhớ với những trải nghiệm tuyệt vời! Mọi thứ đều mới mẻ đối với mình.  Lần đầu tiên mình có cơ hội được tham gia và ghi nhận lại những đám cưới truyền thống của Tây Ban Nha, Ấn Độ với những nét văn hoá rất đặc trưng và thú vị. 

Đây là bộ ảnh đám cưới truyền thống Tây Ban Nha đầu tiên mà mình được chụp.

Cám ơn chú rể Lukas, cô dâu Marina và Rocio Vega - một người thầy, người bạn đáng quý đã cho mình cơ hội được tham gia và ghi nhận lại đám cưới này theo một cách nhìn rất riêng của Khoi Le.

Last July I had a trip to Europe to join some weddings with my friends - talented and very friendly international wedding photographers. It was such a memorable trip with amazing experience. This is the first time I had an opportunity to take part in and capture Spanish and Indian weddings with interesting cultural specificity.

This is my first album of a traditional Spanish wedding.

Many thanks to Lukas, Marina for letting me be a part of your big day. Thank you Rocio Vega - my teacher, my friend - for giving me an opportunity to capture this wedding in my very own way.

Viet + Trang | Wedding Photojournalism | Phan Thiet

Một beach wedding khá đặc biệt mà team mình có dịp tham gia và ghi lại. Trong quá trình chuẩn bị đám cưới, anh chị CDCR đã gặp rất nhiều khó khăn trong khâu chuẩn bị, thậm chí đến sát ngày còn có nguy cơ chuyển địa điểm... Thế nhưng cuối cùng họ đã vượt qua tất cả để có một đám cưới không thể đáng nhớ hơn... Qua đám cưới này mình mới thấy thật sự tuổi tác chỉ là những con số... Chính tình yêu mãnh liệt, tình bạn sâu đậm, tình cảm gia đình thiêng liêng mới là thứ quyết định đám cưới của chúng ta có giàu cảm xúc, có đáng nhớ hay không...

Bộ ảnh không chỉ đáng nhớ đối với CDCR mà đây cũng là bộ bộ ảnh có nhiều kỷ niệm đối với team #khoilestudios bởi lần đầu tiên cả 4 anh em hợp tác với nhau trong một buổi chụp và dù có nhiều thử thách khó nói nhưng cuối cùng bộ ảnh vẫn thành công tốt đẹp ;)

Leighton + Joycelyn | Wedding photojournalism | Phu Quoc

"If someone asks what photo album is my best, my answer will be ”My next album”. I completed my 2017 with a wedding album for Joycelyn and Leighton, a young and modern couple. For me, this is my best album of 2017 because I applied almost everything I learned in the year with all the passion for outdoor weddings. The bride and groom contacted me to make a simple request: be true and be lively. Knowing that the venue is a resort on Phu Quoc beach, I was so excited and imagined that would be a very enthusiastic and animated party with amazing activities. Though the gentle moments of pre-wedding were also full of emotions. Friends of Joycelyn and Leighton from all over the world came and joined cheerfully. Their family also enjoyed the wedding as a meaningful vacation. I felt so great to participate as a photographer and capture those memorable moments, also appreciated the absolute trust of the bride and groom as well. Having me taking care of the photo “stuff”, the couple was able to enjoy their wedding ardently and showed all their best spontaneous emotions.

“Nếu có ai hỏi rằng bộ ảnh nào là bộ ảnh đẹp nhất của mình thì mình sẽ trả lời rằng đó là bộ ảnh mình sẽ chụp tiếp theo.” Năm 2017 khép lại với bộ ảnh cưới cho Joycelyn và Leighton, cặp đôi cực kỳ hiện đại và trẻ trung. Với mình đây là bộ ảnh đẹp nhất trong năm 2017 do mình áp dụng gần như thuần thục tất cả những gì đã học được trong năm với tất cả lòng say mê dành cho tiệc cưới ngoài trời. Cô dâu và chú rể liên hệ mình với yêu cầu đơn giản: chân thật, sống động. Khi biết địa điểm tổ chức là một resort trên bãi biển Phú Quốc, mình đã chuẩn bị tinh thần cho một buổi tiệc cuồng nhiệt và vui nhộn với nhiều hoạt động hấp dẫn. Tuy vậy những giây phút nhẹ nhàng trước lễ cưới cũng mang đầy cảm xúc. Bạn bè của Joycelyn và Leighton từ khắp các châu bay về chung vui. Gia đình hai bên tham gia nhiệt tình và tận hưởng đám cưới như một kỳ nghỉ đúng nghĩa. Mình cảm thấy thật tuyệt vời khi chứng kiến và ghi lại những khoảnh khắc ấy, cũng rất cảm kích cô dâu chú rể đã hoàn toàn tin tưởng Khôi Lê để đắm mình trong không gian tiệc cưới và thể hiện những cảm xúc tự nhiên nhất.

Huy + Thanh | Wedding Photojournalism | DaLat

What a photographer is interested in might be the impressive photos engaging with branding. But for wedding photography, the most interested thing is to capture the true and spririted feelings in every breath. Huy and Thanh are extremely special. They really care about the small and simple things which relate to friendship and familyhood. Wedding in their eyes is an occasion to look back all the memories they had with all sadness and happiness that they’ve gone through, and also marks their beginning of a new chapter in life. All little things in their life are fully supported by their friends and family. During wedding preparation, some close friends who have gone with them for a long journey since they were young come and give them a hand, no matter how trivial and detailed it is, like painting the fence, decorating the flowers port or setting up the layout of wedding banquet. Huy and Thanh want all of these things to be captured so that one day, when they get older and forgetful, they just need to see those photos and all these young and noteworthy days will be recalled.
Khoi Le quite likes this couple because of their true feelings. They know there is a wedding photography session but they are spontaneous and comfortable as they always are and let everything goes freely. Khoi Le’s responsibility is to capture all of the great moments honestly in the most beautiful way because it is timeless and priceless, and they couldn’t live it one more time in their whole life.

Điều mà một photographer quan tâm có thể là những tấm ảnh ấn tượng mang thương hiệu cá nhân. Nhưng đối với phóng sự ảnh cưới, cái khó nhất là phải làm sao bắt được những cảm xúc chân thật đến từng hơi thở. Huy và Thanh là một cặp hết sức đặc biệt. Hai bạn quan tâm đến những điều dung dị nhỏ nhoi và gần gũi trong mối quan hệ bè bạn, gia đình. Đám cưới - cái mốc đánh dấu một quãng đường trải qua bao nhiêu chuyện buồn vui cùng nhau và bây giờ là lúc bước sang một chương khác. Mọi điều liên quan đến cuộc sống của Huy và Thanh đều được vun đắp từ tình bạn, tình cảm gia đình. Những người bạn này có mặt trong suốt công tác chuẩn bị, từ sơn phết hàng rào cho đến trang trí cổng hoa, bố trí khuôn viên tiệc… Hai bạn muốn thể hiện nó qua từng thước ảnh, từng khung hình để khi về già, trí nhớ không còn sâu đậm nữa, chỉ cần nhìn vào mỗi tấm ảnh thì làm gió của thanh xuân sẽ quay trở lại.
Khôi Lê khá quý đôi bạn trẻ này vì chính những tình cảm rất thật của hai bạn. Biết rằng mình đang chụp ảnh để kỉ niệm đám cưới nhưng dường như tất cả đang sống, đang vui, đang xúc động, đang cười đùa, để cho mọi thứ diễn ra một cách tự nhiên. Nhiệm vụ của Khôi Lê là giúp họ lưu lại những khoảnh khắc tuyệt vời ấy một cách trung thực và sống động nhất, bởi vì đó chính là những khoảnh khắc mà thời gian không thể mua được. Bạn cũng không thể sống nó thêm một lần nào nữa.

Mark + Merry | Prewedding | Saigon

Like most of my couple clients, Merry and Mark were planning for their pre-wedding shoot while travelling to Vietnam for a vacation. I was among many choices that Merry found and luckily made it to the final one. The couple was very careful that they sent me their preliminary right after contacting me so we would be able to sort out the best shooting plan. It was set to shoot in Hoi An and a mini session in Saigon. There is a fun fact that Merry is always worrying about something. Firstly she worried that Mark would run away if we made him shoot a whole day. Secondly she worried that I would bury her alive because at the beginning she was not so sure how many locations to be included. Luckily, noone ran away and nobody was burried. The unexpected thing is the terrible storm that came no sooner no later but right on our shooting date. The couple had change to shooting place to Ho Chi Minh city.

However, it turned out to be a joyful and successful one. Check out this lovely couple’s photos to share their happiness. Believe me, location is not the decisive factor. The most important thing is your feelings your emotions and how you enjoy your day.

Ednilson + Quyen | Prewedding | Sapa

Sapa has never disappointed anyone, especially people who are in love. We had a very enjoyable prewedding shoot in the imposing mountain scenery of the north of Vietnam. The love between these two people seems to beat the typical cold atmosphere of Sapa. We can feel the warmth of their sweet embrace through which we can tell how much they fall in love with each other. A true love is something obvious to regconize believe me and the secret of successful prewedding session from photographer’s side is to be sensitive enough to notice it. Romantic scenery in addition will help boost the vibes to a higher level.

Location does play a certain role in wedding photography however it is not the decisive factor. That is what I believe and try to prove through my work. This is the first time I tried taking photos of the couple not only on shooting day but from the time they got on the plane heading to Hanoi then on a train to Lao Cai and a bus to Sapa. And guess what, the result is surprising. We had super natural and intimate pictures. So the advice for couples here is to be you, don’t worry too much on how to “create” a love story in a beautiful place. I will tell your love story instead, as the way it is. And lastly, in order to have a great story, you must have a great love. “Great” doesn’t mean something huge or enormous. It means you are deeply in love with each other. Beautiful places may stir up your feelings but after all it’s your true emotions that decide the value of your photos.

Hao + Linh | Wedding photojournalism | Saigon

Everyone may still remember Hao & Linh, a special couple I have mentioned in my last post for their prewedding album (http://khoilestudios.com/blog/2017/10/1/0mvvw75phutm9d42o0o4w5h35izhxe). To me, their wedding photojournalism album is also as special as they are.

First of all this is the first photojournalism session that I shot after completing two international workshops: Fearless Class and Master Class with Dennis Berti. I have a clear direction and more proper thoughts about the real value of wedding photojournalism. Besides traditional group photos and portraits which are inseparable parts of a ceremony session, the rest of the photos are all candid moments with no arrangement or directions from the photographer. It is the bride’s, groom’s and other subjects’ choice to do whatever they want or to choose the place they stood or sit. I played a role of an observer, waiting and catching the best moments to tell their story in the most natural way. This is also the first time I shot with a Sony A9 and followed by a camera crew in charge of recording my full working process without any scripts..

It is a completely fresh feeling, a little bit of risk and not to mention the eagerness when you are having chances to experience new interesting things. No words can describe the strong emotion that I have hearing the couple says “It was totally beyond our expectation”.

Hao + Linh | Prewedding | Da Nang

Hao & Linh are an interesting couple. They are Vietnamese but live and work in Singapore. Before coming to Khoi Le Studios for a prewedding shoot, they have consulted and studied carefully about a lot of wedding photographers in Vietnam. In their first email to me, they sent a long list of references photos that they have picked from different sources and would like to have an album that has the same style. I am very grateful for the fact that all my clients have very good tastes. However keeping yourselves in the boundaries that you have set will be stressful and unnatural. So, after discussing and receiving advice from Khoi Le, the reference photos were set aside and the couple understood that a prewedding session should be an enjoyable trip and a chance for them to recall the good memories that they had together. Prewedding photos should reflect the couple’s feelings. Their personalities and the way they love each other will help create their very own memorable prewedding photos. And this is the result we have after a prewedding photoshoot session in Danang.

The couple was very satisfied with what they have experienced and again decided to let Khoi Le take care of their big day.
